JV Season Complete/Tourney Reminders

The JV team finished their season with 2 impressive games.  Wednesday night was a fantastic game with an exciting comeback finish.  Tonight we came up a little short but the boys played well.  It was an honor and privilege to work with these boys this year.  They definitely improved throughout the season and I hope they will continue to play the game.  They are all great ball players.

Now that the JV season is over, I will need the boys to return their pants and 2 jerseys WASHED and the belt and in a bag with their name on it.  They may keep the socks and hat.  Please get these turned in ASAP. 

A reminder that the Varsity tournament starts Saturday morning with our first game at 10am.  The boys should be there by 9am for warmups.  White Jerseys.  All 8th grade JV players are welcome to dress out for the game as well.

Please come out and support the Mustangs this weekend!!

JV game added THURSDAY (May 1)

We DO now have a JV game scheduled for Thursday at 5pm against the Bobcats.  This game will be at Pitts Park (see link below for directions).  The boys need to be there by 4:15pm in Purple Jerseys.  No bus.  This again includes all players in town (V or JV). 

By the way....there is a chance that due to the rain, our home game tomorrow (Wed.) may get bumped for HS makeup or field conditions.  Just be watching email as always.

But for now.....Games Wed. at home 5:15pm, Thurs. at Pitts Park 5pm.

LAMS Baseball (week of Apr. 28-May 3)

This is the last week of LAMS Baseball.  I realize the timing of the 8th grade trip isn't ideal, but it was unavoidable.  Here is our schedule for the week as I know it now.  Things could change as far as times and weather conditions:

Monday - OFF

Tuesday - OFF

Wednesday - JV game at HOME at 5:15pm vs Bellevue.  White Jerseys.  All players in town (JV OR V) should be at this game ready to play.  Practice before starting by 4pm.

Thursday - Slight possibility of JV game.....stay tuned.

Friday - OFF

Saturday - Varsity Tournament begins.  White Jerseys.  All 8th graders invited to dress out.  Bracket is attached once again.  Our first game in at 10am at Lipscomb.  Please be there by 9am for warmups.  WHEN we win, we will then play at 2pm at Lipscomb so the boys will have time for a quick lunch break.  (The loser of that first game plays at 4pm at Lipscomb).

Congrats to the JV team on their win over Grassland.  9-7!!

JV GAME ADDED THIS THURSDAY (4/24)

As some of you may have heard, we have added a JV game vs Grassland at Grassland THIS THURSDAY at 3:45pm.  Purple jerseys.  I have asked for the boys to be out by 2:40pm and will let you know if I get approval.  Unfortunately, the bus will not be available so we are going to need several parents to carpool and get them there as soon as possible. 

Let me know if there are any conflicts.

JV Game Tuesday - UPDATE

I have just heard from Grassland that there will only be one game tomorrow night (Tuesday).  It will begin between 5:30-6pm and will be a full length game. 

We are trying to secure another JV game, possibly next week, but if that doesn't work out, tomorrow's game will be the last game for our JV team. 

As we did last year, we will invite all 8th grade JV players to dress out for the tournament starting May 3.  They can continue to practice with the team as well. 

We will keep you posted on any future JV games if they work out.

LAMS Baseball this week - (April 21-27)

Here is this week's schedule:

Monday - Varsity practice at LAHS field from 3:30-4:30.  There will be a HS game going on, but players will hit in cage before/during game and practice on Aux. field if possible.  JV GAME at Overton vs Bobcats.  Purple Jerseys.  5pm.  JV should be there by 4:15pm.  No bus.

Tuesday - Varsity practice at LAHS field from 3:30-4:30.  JV doubleheader at Grassland vs Grassland starting at 6pm.  (2 short games) WHITE Jerseys.  JV should be there by 5:15pm.  No bus.  (Times could change on these games....stay tuned for updates)

Wednesday - Varsity game at home vs MTCS.  4pm.  White Jerseys.  JV should come and practice before/during game. 

Thursday - Both teams OFF.

Friday - Varsity game at home vs Bobcats.  5pm.  White jerseys.  Both teams should come down after school and practice until game.

Saturday - OFF

Sunday - Possible afternoon practice.  Stay tuned

TUESDAY - VARSITY GAME CANCELLED

Due to wet field conditions, the Varsity game today at Burros/Hillsboro (and JV practice) has been cancelled. 

We will try again tomorrow with the JV game at Grassland at 5:15. 
Varsity should come tomorrow to practice at Grassland starting at 3:45pm.
JV should be there by 4:30 to warmup.  Purple jerseys.
No bus.

JV GAME CANCELLED FOR MONDAY 4/14

Due to a scheduling conflict, we no longer have access to our home field tomorrow.  Therefore, the JV game has been cancelled for tomorrow (Monday).  I think weather would've gotten us anyways. 

Since the JV team will not be playing tomorrow, they will now need to come on the bus to Hillsboro Tuesday and practice before/during the V game there.  They should be done by 5pm and can stay and watch V game or leave. 

All other games are on for this week as scheduled as far as I know.

LAMS Baseball Schedule (week of 4/13-4:20)

Here is our schedule for this coming (BUSY) week:  (Watch for updates if weather is a factor)

Sunday (4/13) - JV ONLY practice at LAHS field.  3:00-4:45pm.

Monday (4/14) - JV game vs Bobcats at HOME.  5pm.  White jerseys.  Varsity should come to field after school for batting cages and light workout.  JV should be at the field by 4:15 for warmups.

Tuesday (4/15)  - V game at Burros (at Hillsboro High).  4:30pm.  Purple jerseys.  Bus will leave after school (3:20ish).  JV welcome to attend but not required.

Wednesday (4/16)  - JV game at Grassland.  5:15pm.  Purple jerseys.  No bus.  JV should be there by 4:30pm.  Varsity off.

Thursday (4/17) - V game at home vs Burros at 4:30pm.  White jerseys.  V should be there by 3:45 (half day of school).  JV off but welcome to come and practice beforehand.

Weekend Updates

Just some reminders/updates for the weekend:

Friday (tomorrow) - OFF

Saturday - V game at home vs Winfree-Bryant.  3pm.  White Jerseys.  V should be there by 2:15.  JV is welcome and encouraged to come and practice but not required.

Sunday  - JV only practice.  3pm-4:45pm.  LAHS field.

LAMS BASEBALL 4/6-4/13

Here is our schedule for this week:

Sunday - JV AND V practice 3:00-4:30pm at LAHS field

Monday - OFF

Tuesday - V game at Middle TN Christian at 4pm.  Bus will leave at 2:45pm.  Purple jerseys.  Some JV may be asked to go and ride bus.  If not asked, JV players are welcome to come and support team in the stands but should not get out early.

Wednesday - OFF

Thursday - V game at home against Nashville Catholic (Father Ryan).  4pm.  White jerseys.  All JV should come and practice before/during game.

Friday - OFF

Saturday - V game at home against Winfree-Bryant.  3pm.  Be there by 2:15pm.  White Jerseys.  JV welcome to come...not required.

End of Week/Weekend Updates/Reminders

A few updates/reminders:
1.  Practice tomorrow for all (Thurs.) at Grassland from 4pm-5:45pm.
2.  The JV game Friday has been moved back to 4:30pm.  The boys need to be there by 3:45pm.  Sorry, but there will not be a bus.  White jerseys.
3.  There is rain in the forecast so if weather is an issue either day, be watching for an email update. 
4.  V game Saturday at noon at Winfree-Bryant in Lebanon.  1213 Leeville Pike
Lebanon, TN 37090.  V should be there by 11:15.  Allow at least 45 min. travel time from Lipscomb.  White jerseys.
5.  JV ONLY will practice Sunday from 3:00-4:30pm at LAHS field.
6.  Look for an email this weekend regarding next week.
7.  I have several boys that haven't picked up their t-shirt in my room.  Remind them to stop by.

Thursday - NO JV GAME (Grassland cancelled - will try to reschedule), Instead...V and JV will practice at Grassland from 4pm-5:45pm.  No bus.

Friday - ADDED JV GAME, vs CPA at Grassland at 5:15pm.  White Jerseys.  Varsity off.  JV should be there by 4:30pm.

Saturday - V game still at noon, White Jerseys.  NOT AT CUMBERLAND UNIV.  Field unavailable.  Now at Winfree-Bryant home field.... 1213 Leeville Pike, Lebanon, TN 37090.  JV off.

SUNDAY PRACTICE UPDATE - CHANGE!!

Due to the fact that the infield is still wet, we are going to alter our practice plans for today. 

JV will need to come from 3:00-4:00pm
V will need to come from 3:45-4:45pm

We will let each boy throw to warmup, hit in the cages and possibly pitch.  Once they have hit in the cages, unless they are needed to pitch, they can leave.

LAMS Baseball This Week (3/30-4/5)

Here is the schedule for this week in baseball.  There is A LOT going on this week so please read carefully:

Sunday - Practice for all 3:00pm - 4:45pm at LAHS field.  This practice may be altered or cancelled due to today's rain/wet field so stay tuned early Sunday afternoon for more info.
Monday - No practice
Tuesday - Practice for all at LAHS field 3:30-5pm.
Wednesday - V game at FRA at 4pm.  Purple Jerseys.  Boys will be dismissed at 2:45 and bus will leave Lipscomb soon after.  JV welcome to go but not required.  (Bus will not immediately return to Lipscomb after game.  Parents need to pick up at FRA.)
Thursday - Varsity practice 3:45 - 5pm at Grassland.  JV game at Grassland vs Grassland 5:15pm.  JV should arrive by 4:30pm.  No bus.  WHITE jerseys.

Hope your families have enjoyed Spring Break and have gotten some well deserved rest and time together.  Below is the planned schedule for LAMS baseball next week.  It looks like weather may be an issue some days so be watching email or the website (www.lamsbaseball.com) for updates.

Sunday (3/23) - Practice for all players 2-4pm on LAHS field.
Monday (3/24) - OFF
Tuesday (3/25) - V practice at Grassland 3:45-4:45, JV game at 5:15pm vs Freedom at Grassland (Purple Jerseys).  JV should be there by 4:30pm for warmups. 
Wednesday (3/26) - OFF
Thursday (3/27) - V game at MBA 4pm.  Boys should ride team bus leaving around 2:50pm.  Purple Jerseys.  JV OFF.
Friday (3/28) - V game at home vs MBA 4pm.  JV should come as well and hit in the cages during or before game.  White Jerseys for V.
Saturday (3/29) - OFF

PRACTICE WEDNESDAY, END OF WEEK INFO.

Great Varsity game tonight!  The boys played great baseball and we brought home our first win of the season. 

The entire JV team will have an inside practice tomorrow from 3:15-4:15 in my classroom.

Six of the Varsity guys will have a pitching/catching practice assuming I can get a gym.  They know who they are.  I will email if a gym is not available.

We will not practice Thursday.

Friday - All V and JV players in town will need to come to the LA high school field at 3:30pm.  They will practice before our first home game at 4:30pm.  Some JV players will be asked to play in the V game due to a few absences.  All boys should bring their white jerseys.  Those not asked to play can leave at game time or stay in the dugout and support the team. 

Watch for an email at the end of Spring Break about practices.  We may practice on the final weekend of Spring Break for those in town.

Schedule for the week of March 9-14

Sunday (tomorrow) - The JV team (ONLY) will practice (despite what I told a few boys - I didn't know we had a field at that point).  JV WILL practice from 3:30-5pm at Grassland (same field). 

Monday 3/10 - Varsity will practice at Grassland from 4pm-5pm.  Please be ready and warmed up by 4pm.  JV has a game at Grassland at 5:15pm.  JV should be there ready to warmup by 4:45.  Purple Jerseys.

Tuesday 3/11 - Varsity game at Overton (vs Bobcats) at 5:30pm.  Varsity should be there by 5pm to warmup.  Purple Jerseys.  JV off. 

Wednesday/Thursday - Possible practice.  Waiting on field availability.  Stay tuned.

We WILL do pictures on Saturday starting at noon at Grassland.  Please have your son there by 11:45am with all equipment.  Purple jerseys.  Remember to send the form sent out earlier if you want to order pictures.  Pray for good weather.  Looks good at this point.

Games Rescheduled!!

The games postponed for today have been rescheduled to Saturday at 1pm and 3pm.  JV will play first at 1pm and V will play at 3pm.  Same location.

We may do pictures beforehand around noon but I have to confirm with the photographer.  I will let you know tomorrow.

A reminder to those that were to bring snacks/drinks today to please bring them Saturday.

Practice Thursday

We will practice tomorrow (Thursday) from 7pm-8:30pm at Warner Park field 1.  Very sorry for the late time, but this is all we can find and we need to practice another time this week. 

I am still waiting to hear back about the game reschedule.  I will let you know as soon as I do. 

GAMES POSTPONED!!!!

Due to wet field conditions, our games today have been postponed.  We are trying to reschedule for this Saturday afternoon.  I will let you know as soon as I work it out with the other coach.

We may also try to practice tomorrow - Thursday.  Stay tuned for info.

LAMS BASEBALL 2014 Varsity/Junior Varsity

Below is the current breakdown of Varsity and Junior Varsity players for the 2014 LAMS Baseball Team.  Please know that the coaches feel that we have not had enough time or practices to properly evaluate the boys and make this decision.  However, due to our projected game on Wednesday, we cannot delay the decision any longer.  We felt there were some boys who definitely have proven to be varsity players while some have shown us that they belong on the JV team.  Most importantly, there were several boys who in our opinion were on the fence and could go either way.  We have chosen to make a call and divide them, but we stress again that this decision is very subject to change.  We fully expect there to be some movement throughout the season either up or down depending on performance, ability and need.  We reserve the right to move any boy at any time and appreciate your respect and understanding in doing so.
